“I learned that we need to plant more plants to be more green. It is important too that we need to share rides with our friends to save energy. And, when there is sunlight, we can use it for light and just open our windows. ”

“I learned that energy is important to save because we might run out. Everybody can do it, not just adults but children too.”

“I learned different ways to save on electricity. Turn off lights when not using them, keep the thermostat at the same temperature and take showers instead of baths. If everyone would be conservative with energy, the electricity would go down.”

“I learned that if every house in America had a faucet that dripped once each second, 928 million gallons of water would be wasted. Also, that we can save water by turning off the faucet when we brush our teeth.”

“It is everyone’s responsibility to share and conserve the resources that the earth provides us. We must be misers and use our resources wisely. The well being of future generations of people, plants, and animals must be protected and respected.”

“I learned that all around us there are little ways to conserve energy. Even picking just a few everyday can make a difference. If everyone works together, the energy we save today can make for a brighter tomorrow.”

Elise, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, 8th

1st Place Finalist

“There are many important things that I learned. First of all recycling. If we recycle, we can make more stuff and it is fun. Then, planting trees because trees give us oxygen to inhale and to be green. The last one is how to save energy, like turning the heat a little bit lower to make our bill a little bit cheaper. If we all do these things, we can save the world.”

Karen, Cowherd Middle School, 8th

6-9-2

2nd Place Finalist

“While I was working on this project I learned that plugged in cords draw when they are off, which shocked me! People don’t notice how they’re wasting energy and how one person can make a difference in our world.”

Emilia, John F. Kennedy Middle School, 8th

3rd Place Finalist

“The most important thing I learned about energy efficiency was that there are more ways to conserve than we think there are. Some ways are harder than others, but they can all help make our planet cleaner and healthier for us.”

Lexi, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, 8th
